We average this distance over multiple attempts. We measure the distance the projectile travels from its resting location within the cannon to the spot of initial impact on the floor. We load the projectile into the cannon, secure the leaf blower nozzle into the input port, ramp the leaf blower up to full strength in the selected mode, open the air gate and foomp. All of those high scores were achieved in the respective blower's turbo mode, except for the DeWalt leaf blower, which only has a single setting. Yes, we could have grabbed some leaves and some loose debris and blown it around our test spaces, and said, "Hey, this thing blows leaves." But we wanted to go one step further and see how the leaf blowers' output translated to raw power. This is where our propulsion cannon comes in. Everything else sits in a cluster as they race for loudest leaf blower - a title currently held by the DeWalt Max Flexvolt 3. There are two main points of data that we collect for leaf blowers: The first is sound level. We do love our data, so we make sure to collect and analyze manufacturer specs alongside our own test data. And if you also own any other Greenworks 80V battery-platform tools, the leaf blower's battery can power those, too. At $250, the cost is relatively average among the models we tested, so I would consider this a great buy. But, as with most units, you do have a strap option and there are already metal hooks in place on the unit for that exact purpose. This is one of the heavier models we tested, at about 10 pounds, which can become tiring after you've held it for some time. Still, that size battery is probably good enough for most medium and lighter jobs - and the fact that the output is highest of all the units tested means you'll likely spend less time on the same job than you would with other, less powerful leaf blowers. Our only real criticism on the power front is that the Greenworks leaf blower comes with the smallest battery capacity of all units we've tested - a lowly 2.5 amp-hours. However, the performance is worth that trade-off and it beats most gas handheld blower models.Additionally, Greenworks seems to have the most efficient power relay in terms of being able to translate its voltage system and included battery into raw power. It is worth noting that we also measured the sound level and it peaked at 91 decibels at the operator’s ear, which is on the loud side. In our tests, this blower hit 17.0 Newtons of blowing force. On the lowest setting, you can expect to get up to 84 minutes of runtime per charge with a DCB609 9.0Ah battery. A variable speed trigger and cruise control also let you set the blower’s output to the application at hand.ĭeWalt tells us its ideal applications include leaf blowing, grass blowing, debris clearance, and jobsite cleanup for both mid-range professional users and homeowners. The DeWalt DCBL772 FlexVolt blower features a brushless motor that delivers up to 600 CFM of airflow and airspeeds up to 125 MPH.
